Mounting
If you want to mount the MTX Jackhammer 22, you are going to need a pretty big enclosure. MTX recommends always using a vented enclosure to ensure the long life of your sub. This also ensures the best sound. Custom enclosures for the MTX Jackhammer 22 can be purchased directly through MTX or through other online retailers that carry MTX products. You can even purchase your Jackhammer 22 already mounted in a slot ported enclosure that is produced and manufactured by MTX. If, however, you want to build your own enclosure, you will need the measurements. The MTX Jackhammer 22 has a mounting depth of 21-1/16 inches and a cut out diameter of 20-1/4 inches.

The MTX Jackhammer 22 also features a 6.5 inch voice coil with 17 AWG high temperature aluminum wire in a flat wound, long excursion design. This incorporates an Xmax of 2.5 inches.
Design

The main reason for purchasing an MTX Jackhammer 22 is the awesome sound it provides. The Jackhammer 22 is designed for what they call a combination between SQL and SPL, or sonic quality. You can have your Jackhammer 22 sent in either SQL, which is equipped with dual 4 Ohm coils or SPL, which is equipped with dual 2 Ohm coils. You can also purchase the replaceable cone assembly with your order to enable you to have both options. The replaceable cone assembly allows you to switch from SQL, which is considered everyday listening and SPL, which is considered competition sound.
